"Should I buy a Plasma, LCD or LED TV?"
A tough question to answer as everyone will have their own reasons for buying a particular TV. The price, picture quality, power consumption, and size will all be factors when deciding on your TV, it just depends on which factor is your priority. We have tried below to explain some of the differences;
Plasma TV's
A majority of the Plasma TV's available are from Panasonic, they are by far the largest manufacturer of these screens. Some manufacturers have dropped Plasma completely from their range preferring to concentrate on LCD and LED.
The major features of Plasma are:
- deeper blacks and richer colours
- wider viewing angle
- faster response times reducing blurring
- tends to use more power than LED and LCD
LED TV's
Widely available from all major manufacturers and has the reputation for providing the best image on the screen.
The major features of LED TV's are:
- sharp images and good depth of colour
- energy efficient, low power usage
- slim designs
- viewing angle can be poor
LCD TV's
Like LED, LCD TV's are produced by all the major brand, and and again produce a good image. The difference between the two is the back lighting lamps. On an LED TV they use hundreds of LED bulbs as opposed to traditional lamps, this creates the sharper image on a LED screen and the energy efficiency. Tend to be cheaper than both LED and Plasma.
As a general rule the more money you spend on a TV the better the image will be, and the sound quality.
Projectors
If you are looking to replace your TV with a projector then please note the many factors to be considered before doing so.
- Choice of LCD(liquid crystal display) or DLP(digital light processing) projectors
- Resolution - picture sharpness
- Contrast Ratio - the larger the ratio the better the depth of colour
- Brightness
- Projector Screen Format and Size
- Connectivity - how are you going to connect your set top box or dvd player
- Sound - how are you going to hear your DVD
- Lamp Life - replacement lamps are expensive how long will they last on average
